Blue Carousel premiered 6. June 2024 at Dansens Hus Oslo, followed by performances during Oktoberdans 2024.

A satire on the phenomenon of seduction, Blue Carousel is a bold duet created and performed by dance artists Lisa Colette Bysheim (Norway) and Katrine Patry (Quebec), scored with a live techno set by asiangirlsonly.(Norway/Philippines).

Inspired by qualities of bird mating rituals interwoven with our own social codes of flirtation, two dancers and a dj-duo evolve and interact in a brightly coloured arena. A power play of expectations and associations collapse and climax into a series of transformations. Bysheim and Patry work with humour and repetition as a choreographic tool to comment on how the female body is viewed, objectified and categorised. 

In a study of the alluring form, they indulge in all-consuming moments. Revealing, twisting and defying expectations, through layers of fiction they present soft and unforeseen confrontations. Insistent movements are fused together with distinct and intense techno beats. 

Two women like ‘birds of paradise’, a serious parade in all its peculiarity. A playful and suggestive work that questions and challenges what is socially accepted vs the absurdity in the unexpected.​
